Santral İstanbul

The land is on an area that Halic is divided into two. These buildings were used before as a power plant and evacuated on 1983. Later on 1991 they were registered by the council of monuments.

The program consists renovation of existing buildings and adding new functions like: studios, lecture halls, classrooms, rooms of academicians, exhibition halls, cafes and cinemas. the existing buildings are turned into museum, library and guesthouse.

Rather than acting dominant on existing trees, it neatly flows between them. While doing this, it sometimes follows traces of the unregistered buildings and sometimes it draws its own path.

The structure of the soil of this land, did not let heavy settlement. Therefore by rising on lightweight steel columns, the buildings become visually and physically light.
